It is with great excitement that we are welcoming a new chapter in the history of the Washington Open Dancesport Competition under the organizer Eddie Ares.
Eddie is a Dance Champion, Choreographer, and Coach, as well as the owner of Academy Ballroom Atlanta and co-founder of the Atlanta Ballroom Dance Theater. A U.S. and World Professional Champion, he has choreographed for So You Think You Can Dance (FOX) and Dancing with the Stars (ABC).
He organizes Hotlanta The Classic and founded the Global Spectrum Circuit, shaping the ballroom dance world. Eddie continues to coach, perform, and inspire dancers across the U.S. and beyond.

Whether you’re looking to compete or just experience some fabulous dancing at a great time of year, Washington Open has something for everyone.
World ProAm DanceSport Series
Washington Open DanceSport Competition is proud to be a World Pro/Am DanceSport Series event – a series designed with the competitor and spectator in mind. Participation at the Washington Open DSC will earn you points to determine your Regional and National Ranking.
